Chrislam is a religion
- based in Nigeria but expanding around the world including the United States.
- defined by William Lane Craig as "neither Christianity nor Islam."
- where Chrislamic people may call themselves both Christians and Muslims.
- which uses both the Bible and Qur'an and sees them both as holy texts.
Beliefs and practices include:
- Christin Muslims believe that Muhammad, Moses, and Jesus were all great prophets equally deserving of love and respect but with very distinct and different roles.
- Worship services include singing of Christian hymns and Islamic nasheeds to praise God and attract His presence.
- Christian Muslims in congregation call out “in the Name" of Allah (Elohim) during worship.
- Christmas, Easter, Ramadan, and other Christian and Islamic religious celebrations are accepted and celebrated without judgment or hostility.
- They use the historical calendar which Muhammad used throughout his lifetime. Ramadan falls in December (Nativity Fast) and Hajj in March (Holy Week).
- Christmas is observed as both a time to celebrate Christ's sovereignty and to celebrate the revelation of the Qur'an.
- Children are baptized, and boys are circumcised.
- Their places of worship have an altar similar to those built by Abraham where worshipers pray and seek the face of God.
- Services are Morning service (Fajr), Afternoon service (Zohar/Asr), and Night service (Maghrib/Isha). Friday Jummah initiates preparations for the sanctification of the Sabbath with a meal in the evening (Ma'ida Al‑Hamd) comparable to a Christian Mass.
- They believe in evangelism and are actively involved in winning converts on a day‑to‑day basis.
The most famous branches of Chrislam are two different religious movements in Nigeria. Ifeoluwa or The Will of God Mission was founded by Tela Tella in the 1970s and 80s. Oke‑Tude or The True Message of God Mission was founded by Samson Saka in 1999.
One of the main drivers of Crislam is Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in Southern California. Warren passionately denies his connection with Chrislam while promoting it through his many ministries and outlets. In 2009, he addressed the annual meeting of the Islamic Society of North America. He opened by telling the audience how much he had in common with Muslims and the ideology of Islam. He preached a pro‑globalization message of uniting together at any cost by laying down our differences.

In the video “Chrislam Exposed: The Seductive Lie of a Common God Between Christianity and Islam," former Muslim now Christian pastor Shahram Hadian exposes the false teachings of "Chrislam" and uncovers Chrislam’s growing and devastating implementation in Christian churches and missions both in America and overseas. Shahram was born in Iran and came to America at the age of 7 to escape an oppressive Islamic regime and is now a proud US citizen. He has served his local community as a police officer, teacher, and coach and was a candidate for Washington State Governor in 2012. He speaks around the nation to awaken America, especially the Church, where he finds Christian pastors and missional leaders promoting the false gospel of Chrislam in their effort to be culturally sensitive to Muslims.
Shahram says:
“Chrislam is an absolute perversion of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and must be eradicated from the implementation of the Great Commission."
“You can not be a Muslim and a true follower of Jesus Christ. Chrislam not only endangers the hope of salvation for Muslims but also threatens to lead many Christians astray from the truth of God’s Word.”
Despite Chrislam’s proponents, Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God.

THE INVITATION
- You can't depend on your own goodness to get to Heaven. We've all sinned (Romans 3:23). Jesus paid the penalty for your sins with His death on the cross and His resurrection (John 3:16).
- To be forgiven and be guaranteed a place in Heaven, you need to repent of sin, confess that you are a sinner, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in your heart (Acts 2:21).
- You can use the following prayer or your own words, but you must actually believe in your heart that your prayer is real:
Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I confess that I have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. Please forgive all my wrongdoing and let me live in relationship with You from now on. I receive You as my Savior and recognize that the work You accomplished once and for all on the cross was done on my behalf.
Thank You for saving me. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to You. In Your name I pray, Amen.
